President

Janet Buchhammer

Janet is currently a school counselor at Burns Jr/Sr High School in Burns, Wyoming. She has a Masters degree and an Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. Janet has 14 years of experience in education and worked as a junior high school studies teacher for four years in Laramie prior to becoming a school counselor. She is also a licensed professional counselor and has experience as a therapist at a residential treatment facility and in community counseling. Janet enjoys spending time with her husband, her four children (ages 2 to 11), and her furbaby Murphy.

Lucas Grant

Lucas is currently a school counselor at Lovell Middle School in Lovell Wyoming. He previously worked as an elementary school counselor in Cody Wyoming. Lucas has also had previous experience working in banking and accounting services. He received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wyoming in 2015 and his M.S in Counseling from the University of Wyoming in 2019. He is a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and provisionally licensed counselor (PPC).

Lucas grew up in Lovell Wyoming and enjoys fishing, hiking, and camping. He is married with three amazing and energetic boys who attend preschool, elementary school, and Middle school. He also has one beautiful little girl. Lucas loves to play games of all types as long as he is connecting with others. He enjoys continually learning and helping others.

Middle School Representative Brittany Wenke

Brittany is a Middle School counselor in Powell Wyoming. She began her job at Powell Middle School in 2014 and continues to love what she does. Brittany was born in Powell, but was raised in Cody where she graduated from Cody High School. She earned her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Wyoming and her M.S. of Education in School Counseling at Montana State University in Bozeman. Brittany spends her spare time with her son and husband (and two rambunctious dogs). You can also find her in the garden, sitting on her front porch reading a book or taking pictures. Brittany appreciates the relationships built with students, staff and families while working in a school and how each one is built differently.


    

High School Representative
Stephanie Marker

Stephanie was the Wheatland High School counselor from 2017 until June of 2023.  As the only school counselor for all the 9-12 students in the community, she provided a variety of services.  She enjoyed how different every day was and how busy this role kept her.  Stephanie recently moved to Libbey Elementary School to gain a new perspective and experience as she continues working towards her LPC.  She earned her B.A. in Secondary Education/Biology and her M.S. in Counseling fron the University of Wyoming.  She spends her free time downhill skiing, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and traveling with Eric any chance she can.

Lindsey Nichols

Dr. Lindsey Nichols is an Associate Professor at the University of Wyoming Counseling Program at the Laramie campus. Her background is in secondary education and she earned a master's in school counseling. After being a school counselor in NC, Lindsey returned for her PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision. After almost a decade in the field, this is her second year at UW, and she has particular interests in rural school mental health, educator SEL, and cultural responsive interventions. New to WY, she looks forward to driving around the state, seeing the sights and meeting everyone hopefully soon.

K-12 Representative
Chawna Wiechmann

Chawna Wiechmann is the K-12 counselor at Washakie School District #2 in Ten Sleep. She earned her B.A. in Education from The University of Montana- Western and her M.A. in Counseling from The University of Wyoming, 2011 graduate. She is NBBC  and LPC certified. Before becoming a school counselor, Chawna was a math teacher at the secondary level as well as a math facilitator. She has two amazing children and ranches with her husband south of Ten Sleep. Chawna enjoys running, hunting, horses and dogs, and spending time with her family.

April is the College & Career school counselor at Cheyenne Central High School. Prior to this she was an elementary school counselor in Douglas for 8 years. A Chicago native, she has lived in Wyoming for most of her adult life loves it! April loves spending her time with her husband, son and their two Australian Shepherds (Gemma & Piper), reading, being crafty, crocheting, and cheering for her favorite Chicago sports teams!

Elisa Daniels

Elisa Daniels is the High School Counselor at Hot Spring County High School in Thermopolis! This is Elisa's first role on the WYSCA Board and she is super excited to be a part of it all! Elisa received her Undergraduate degree at UW majoring in Sociology and then went on to her Master's degree in School Counseling at Adams State University. Elisa is also a Track and field coach specializing in Hurdles and High Jump. When not at school Elisa enjoys her family which consists of her Husband and two daughter's Everly and Finley. We love to do lots of things outdoors like fishing, hiking, horseback riding and roping! 


       



Conference Chair

Erin Curtis

Erin is a School Counselor at Powell High School and the Shoshone Learning Center for PCSD1. In the past Erin has served in other WySCA roles but is excited to jump into this new responsibility as Conference Chair. When Erin is not working, she enjoys gardening, remodeling, and spending time with her husband as empty nesters.  Her three children are all currently in college and she revels in the times when they are all at home! Recently she has been enjoying her new role as Nana!
